The Seal of the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, known as “ختم الرسول” in Arabic, is a significant relic housed in the Topkapı Palace as part of the Sacred Relics collection. It is believed to be a replica of the seal used by Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم on various letters sent to foreign dignitaries.
Historical records from 1675 describe the seal being kept in a small ebony box, placed in a niche within the relic room at Topkapı Palace. The seal itself is enclosed in crystal, measuring approximately 3″ × 4″, adorned with an ivory border. It has been utilized as recently as the 17th century for stamping documents.
The inscription on the Seal of the Prophet Muhammad reads محمد رسول الله (Muhammad rasul Allah), which translates to “Muhammad, Messenger of God” (صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم).
